00年1月、じゃんぱら某店にて巡り会い、そのまま購入。
税別4万円という価格からもわかるように、状態は良くなく、付属品も無いものだったのですが、徹底的に掃除し、きれいになりました。
前に使っていた人が何等の改造もしていなかったため、意外と安定動作しています。
 
そんなLykierちゃん、うちでは、実験機としての役割を担っています。
CPUはCeleronに、HDDは4GBに載せ換え予定。ただし、UIDE-98などのリスクを伴う拡張は行わない予定です。実験機としての役割を果たせなくなってしまいますし、440FX搭載機はWildcat機より内蔵HDDのパフォーマンスも高めなので、標準のままでも実用に耐えるものと判断しています。
標準性能が高いと、100BASE-TX LANなどの基本的なものを内蔵しているので、あまり拡張せずとも実用に耐えてくれるので嬉しいですね。
 
そんなわけで、まずはじめにWindows2000を実験導入し、快調に動いてくれています。
その後、UIDE-66を導入し、HDDの高速化を図ります。予想以上に高速化されたため、Sharonちゃんと交代して、Windows2000 & FreeBSD(98) の双方が稼働する
主作業機の役目を担っています。
 
主な処理系が安定してきた 2002年以降、Lykierちゃんは実験系へ移行。新OSの検証やサーバ移行時の橋渡し役など、その時に応じた役割を担ってくれています。
